Eyelid Procedures

Eye Specialists of Mid-Florida can treat the following eyelid-related disorders.

Droopy Eyelids (Dermatochalasis/ Blepharochalasis)

With age, the skin and tissues that surround the eye can become loose, sag, and obstruct the upper and side vision. When the vision is significantly obstructed, eyelid lift surgery (blepharoplasty) may be covered by insurance. If you are having problems with droopy eyelids, call for an appointment to see if you may be a candidate for eyelid lift surgery.

Eyelid Turning Inward (Entropion) and Eyelid Turning Outward (Ectropion)

As a result of tissue laxity, eyelid muscle changes, and/or scarring, the eyelid can roll inward or outward. These changes in the eyelid can cause redness, irritation, scarring, and infection of the eye, which can result in vision loss. If you think you may be having a problem with inward or outward turning of the eyelid, you should call your eye doctor to see if you need treatment and/or surgical correction.

Droopy Upper Eyelid Margin (Ptosis)

The muscle that raises and lowers the eyelid can become loose or weak allowing the margin of the eyelid to droop. When the vision is significantly obstructed, surgical correction may be covered by insurance. Ptosis can be associated with serious systemic medical conditions. If you think you are having a problem with ptosis, you should call to have an appointment scheduled with your eye doctor to have this evaluated particularly if this is a new or worsening problem.

Bumps on the eyelids

Bumps or growths on the eyelids could be cause for concern and should be evaluated by a physician. Call for an appointment today if you have any new or worsening lumps or bumps on your eyelid.
