Workplace Eye Wellness Month

Posted by: Eye Specialists of Mid Florida in Blog

March 2018 Workplace Wellness

The eye is often taken for granted, and people rarely consider the health of their eyes. Almost 2,000 people a day injure their eyes while working. The majority of these injuries are due to particle abrasions or chemicals. Wearing proper eye protection could have prevented 60% of these work-related eye injuries.

A recent survey found that computer work caused 14% of reported eye problems. In the workplace, computers pose a risk to our vision and overexposure to computer screens can cause our eyes to lose the ability to function properly. To remedy vision strain while still being productive, remember the “20-20-20 rule”: for every 20 minutes on a digital screen, take 20 seconds to look 20 feet away to relax your eyes’ focusing system. Also, remember to blink frequently. This simple action reduces dry eye and maintains eye health.

To help ensure the wellness of your eyes and optimize your vision, visit the doctors at Eye Specialists of Mid-Florida, P.A. as needed.
